The story on Sing
Okay, true, Sing photography began as my song. I’m Amy Hunsinger, after all. But Sing Photography is really taking off, so already there are some other awesome folks that are part of the team. For now, here’s the story on me…
A life behind the camera
I’ve always had a camera, be it a point and shoot or my dad’s old SLR. And I’ve always been crazy about old family photos and the personalities of the people in them. I am the keeper of all old family photos.
I took a lot of unbelievable photos in my previous career -- an ultrasound technologist at Northside Hospital, perhaps the ultimate real-life photography, up close and personal with people during their most memorable moments. I also explored my passion for photographing special needs families, too, which taught me how real and wonderful life can be in many different ways.
Now I am Sing photography, coloring outside the lines. It’s much more than just a business - it’s a passion for life that I share with my clients, friends and family.
The connection is what counts
Early in my photography career I discovered that connecting with my subjects, from wherever they are, is so important. That’s how I can know when I've seen a little glimpse of what they’re all about.
That’s why I stop and talk to a 6-year old with “say cheese on the brain”, hang out and laugh with a nervous adult, go play for a while with a shy little guy, and get to know the real Chili beyond the celebrity I’ve seen on tv.
I have such a love for my subjects, during the shoot and when I’m editing. I have a huge smile on my face when I’m editing, because I’m so crazy about the people I’ve made this connection with.
How I Roll
I take the lead, which makes people feel more comfortable, like I’m giving you a job to do. Then when you’re “posed”… we stop, wait and hang out. Just talk for a bit, until I catch something in your demeanor, personality, soul, that’s, y’know, not posed. It’s just you. Click.
People behave differently when they think they’re here just to be photographed. But really, with Sing it's a “where we are in life right now” kind of check-in. And you come away with these timeless photographic reminders that where you are in life right now is pretty darn cool.
